PolyNek Rector heralds 100 days in office with massive renovation works

Massive renovation and rehabilitation works have heralded the 100 days in office of the 9th substantive Rector; Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Dr Mrs Basila Igbokwe.



Speaking at the premises of the school while taking some staffers, stakeholders and selected Journalists on a facility tour to commission some of the  renovated projects, she said; her  motivation provoked  by the need to leave a monumental legacy that will  stand as a general reference point in the history of the school. 

Rector Igbokwe said, the level of negligence, abandonment and decay   she met on ground was enough to discourage her, but  instead of been discouraged she chose to be encouraged as she had already prepared to leave a legacy that will stand the rest of time  



Some  of the projects of the school  she renovated, initiated and rehabilitated were abandoned revenue   generating facilities of the school.


The 9th substantive Rector of the Institution made it clear that she is determined to make a difference inline with her 11 Point  developmental Agenda for the school.



The performing Rector who noted that if she had considered the low financial strenght of the institution as at the time she took over the mantle of leadership, she wouldn't have taken a bold step or achieve  what she achieved within a short time in office, however gave kudos to institution' s contractors for believing in her, as well as the students and staff for their massive support.



The Rector was filled with commendations for the school contractors, for believing in her,  "they know my record of integrity and accountability for years, they know that I cannot accept what I can't afford to do, the contractors support and believe in me are part of the  secret of my productive efforts and impacts,



Mrs Igbokwe traced the decay and moribund or poor status of some of the renovated facilities to  one year transition era when there was no substantive Rector to do the needful in accordance with the extant laws of land that established the office.


The IGR Projects of the school she renovated included, Block Industry,Pure Water Factory, Tissue Paper Factory  and JAMB CBT Center, she  also renovated a dilapidated hostel, 1000 Capacity Hall of the School, some offices in security department of the school and others. 

  





She promised to pay attention to the agricultural Department in order to proffer solution to food production and sufficiency  in her own little way.



Determined to take Federal Polytechnic Nekede to greater height, she called for assistance and immense considerations from TETFUND to enable the school. operate at elevational standard in line with dynamic and digital realities of the 21at Century.


Observers and stakeholder present during the facility tour and other activities  that marked her 100 days in office,  described her as a living proof of the saying that! "  productivity is what happens when preparation meets opportunity, they gave her kudos for her responsible and responsive leadership.


Filled with  joy the 9th substantive Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, showered praises on staff, All the unions, academic and non academic unions, Host Communities,  contractors and students for believing in her, adding that her success story cannot be complete without their support.

She passionately appealed to them to remain focused in supporting her and the management, promising that she will continously run an open door administration, give everybody a listening as a mother and carry all along in the scheme of things.
