Kwankwaso's Scathing Criticism Sparks Heated Debate on Legislature's Role
ABUJA - Former Kano State Governor and 2023 NNPP presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has launched a scathing attack on the National Assembly, describing it as a "rubber stamp" to the executive arm of government.
In a statement made available to newsmen, Kwankwaso expressed disappointment with the 10th National Assembly, saying it has failed to assert its independence and check the excesses of the executive.
"The National Assembly has become a mere rubber stamp, incapable of performing its constitutional role as a co-equal branch of government," Kwankwaso said.
Kwankwaso's criticism comes on the heels of growing concerns among Nigerians about the legislature's ability to hold the executive accountable.
The former governor's statement has sparked a heated debate, with many Nigerians taking to social media to share their thoughts on the matter.
