In a significant display of diplomatic courtesy and respect, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dispatched a high-powered delegation to Vatican City to attend the burial of Pope Francis on Saturday, April 26. Led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the five-member delegation comprises prominent figures from the government and the Catholic Church in Nigeria.


The delegation includes Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria; Archbishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, Archbishop of Sokoto Diocese; and Archbishop Ignatius Ayua Kaigama, Archbishop of Abuja Diocese.


This gesture underscores Nigeria's commitment to fostering strong relationships with the Vatican and the global Catholic community.
