Banks Implement New Fee Structure for USSD Transactions
As of June 18, 2025, Nigerian banks have started deducting a N6.98 USSD fee for bank transactions from customers' airtime balances instead of their bank accounts. This change is in line with the Nigerian Communications Commission's (NCC) directive to implement the End-User Billing (EUB) model.
The new fee structure means that customers will now need to have sufficient airtime to cover the cost of USSD transactions. The fee will be deducted from the customer's airtime balance for each USSD session. Customers are advised to ensure they have enough airtime to carry out transactions without any issues.
The implementation of the new fee structure has sparked mixed reactions from customers, with some expressing concerns about the impact on their finances.
