OWERRI - In a bid to promote peaceful coexistence and safeguard public order, the Imo State Government has given herders operating in the state a July 24, 2025 deadline to end open grazing. This decision was made known by the state government in a statement released yesterday.
According to the government, open grazing has been a major source of tension between farmers and herders in the state, leading to crop damage and other forms of destruction. The government believes that by ending open grazing, it can reduce the incidence of conflicts between the two groups and promote peaceful coexistence.
